LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

Language development is an important part of child development. We at Delhi Public School Modern supports your child’s ability to communicate. It also supports your child’s ability to: Express and understand feelings Think and learn Solve problems Develop and maintain relationships. As in the words of Dr. Maria Montessori, “ Play is the work of child”. Children can benefit from playtime. Games offer a fun-filled, relaxed environment where they can practise using new words and are free to express themselves. Participating in recreational activities is an effective way to develop language and communication skills. It also helps your children to be more socially confident and may be a way to forge friendships.

Below are some examples of games and playtime activities that integrate language learning with fun: Word games. Riddles. Rhymes. Storytelling.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

Slowly but steadily, your child is preparing to take on the structural build that is almost similar to that of an adult. This is considered physical development in a child. Young preschoolers are brimming with energy. That’s a good thing in terms of physical development, because it’s the repeated movement of large and small muscle groups that builds and refines how well these parts of the body work. Large motor skills (or gross motor skills) develop first. That’s why 2-, 3-, and 4-year-olds tend to do more running, jumping, reaching, and wiggling than sitting still when using their hand muscles for, say, drawing or for manipulating small toys. But it’s a good idea to spend time at both kinds of activities.

Services and childcare should include physical activity play as a key component of a child’s development. Services should offer play-based activities and games that combine physical activity with a child’s interests and abilities.

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The ability of a child to socially adapt to the situations in and around them remains the focus through this development.

Emotional Development represents a specific domain of child’s development. It is a gradual, integrative process through which children acquire the capacity to understand, experience, express and manage emotions and to develop meaningful relationships with others. Toddlers are little people with big emotions that they don’t always have the words for. Play gives them a chance to express their emotions and also practise managing them.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) has become a critical part of learning and instruction in DPS Modern. It is how we describe the ways in which students manage their emotions and make responsible decisions. Actively involving students in their own social and emotional development encourages them to practice good habits.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

Cognitive development is characterized by the way a child learns, acquires knowledge and interacts with his surrounding environment.

Different cognitive skills are acquired as a child meets certain developmental milestones, but a child of any ability will benefit from activities that promote active learning. All our lovely and caring teachers encourage your child’s cognitive development in the areas of memory, concentration, attention and perception by incorporating simple activities into your everyday routine.
